INSIDE TUDOR

BIRTH OF THE BRAND

The Geneva-based watch dealer and manufacturer "Veuve de Philippe Hüther" registered the trademark "The TUDOR" in February 1926 on behalf of Hans Wilsdorf, founder of Rolex. The house later moved the brand to Wilsdorf in 1936. Hans Wilsdorf realized it was time to grow the brand and give it a distinct character shortly after World War II. He founded "Montres TUDOR S.A." on March 6, 1946, concentrating on models for men and women. Technical, visually appealing, and practical traits, as well as distribution and post-purchase support, are all guaranteed by Rolex.

“For some years now, I have been considering the idea of making a watch that our agents could sell at a more modest price than our Rolex watches, and yet one that would attain the standard of dependability for which Rolex is famous. I decided to form a separate company, with the object of making and marketing this new watch. It is called the TUDOR watch company.”
